Mini Grant Program to Benefit Residents and Businesses in Lawrence County

The Lawrence County Conservation District today launched a mini grant program to benefit the residents and businesses of Lawrence County. Mini grants of up to $5,000.00 will be available to help fund programs and projects in Lawrence County that support the Clean Water and Healthy Soil mission of the Conservation District. Funds may also be used to cover unreimbursed soil and water testing expenses directly related to the East Palestine train derailment and burn off of hazardous chemicals.

The grant will open to residents and businesses in Southwestern Lawrence County on October 1, 2023 and to all others on December 1, 2023. The grant will run until December 31, 2025 or until all funds are exhausted.

The mini grant program is being funded by a grant of $105,000.00 to the Conservation District by the Lawrence County Commissioners from funds provided to the county by Norfolk Southern Railway after the East Palestine train derailment.
